I remember many late nights as a child, sitting in the bathroom in tremendous abdominal pain, my mother holding my hand and rubbing my back. She did the only thing she knew how to do, and that was to simply be there to comfort me.
The doctors couldn’t explain why I was experiencing such digestive issues, and so it made it difficult for my mother to know what to do.
As a young adult, I got accustomed to late night episodes - crawling on the bathroom floor in tremendous abdominal pain, or in bed in a fetal position to ease the discomfort. If not abdominal pain, it would be knife stabbing migraines that made me want to crawl in bed underneath a warm, heavy blanket. This time I had moved out and my mother was not there to hold my hand and comfort me.
My doctors still didn’t know the source of my discomfort. Diagnostic studies were inconclusive.
By the time I was in my thirties, I was exhausted by pain. It hurts to move, stand or sit. It even hurts to lie down. I was in pain all the time.
I felt betrayed by my own body.
I sought out many specialists to try and diagnose and manage my symptoms. Despite my compliance with medications and treatment modalities, I was not getting better.
Eventually, I gave up on prescription medications and turned to real food for healing. Over time I learned there was a pattern--giving up certain foods left me feeling far healthier.
However, when I turned 50, all my symptoms returned with a vengeance--knife stabbing headaches, irregular heart rates, difficulty breathing, raging hormones, weight gain (I gained 17 pounds in 6 months), and diffuse joint pain.
Diagnostic studies were inconclusive however my bloodwork showed high inflammatory markers. It was a good news and bad news situation. Thankfully I didn’t have a terrible disease but no one had answers. My obstetrician recommended a hysterectomy, but I wasn’t ready to let go of any body parts yet.
I decided to reexamine my diet and realized I needed to raise the bar.
After several months of clean eating, I returned to my obstetrician who was shocked to see me looking so well. Apparently, with the proper diet I had rebalanced my system.
I feel stronger, have more energy, less brain fog and less pain. I feel younger!

I am down 18.8 lbs…that is the lightest I have been in more than 7 years and I feel so much better. My clothes fit (many are too big) and I just feel so good! You have found the magic sauce for women over 40 and it’s no sugar! Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been working out daily and all that, but no sugar has been key I think! Thank you my friend, you have changed my life!!!!
I’m so happy that I took part in the 21 Day Sweet Spot Cleanse. The daily steps are written with humor and are loaded with information. Taking part in the cleanse gave me a really important reminder to be mindful of what I eat throughout the day. Being mindful helps me achieve my food and drink goals.
Real quick, one more thing. I loved reading about how eating this & that affect specific organs in our bodies.
I look forward to the next 21 Day Sweet Spot Cleanse!
Today, I am thankful for the decision to do this challenging yet rewarding cleanse... it has motivated me not only to eat cleanly, but also to look at other areas of my life and do some general house cleaning and I don't mean a clean house. Whether spiritual projects, home or life projects, or anything else we set our minds to, feeling good about ourselves makes a world of difference.
I am most proud of losing 18 pounds. I think it is having an effect on my energy and brain clarity.
The surprising part for me may be getting full. It seemed with some recipes that more is less as far as filling. Very easy to follow along with the plan with its daily progressions. What's great is having a better understanding of why to eat something or not eat something. Definitely will be approaching how I eat, prepare meals, and shop moving forward.
Thank you ... from me and my scale :)
