We All Want to Feel Better. So Where Do We Begin?

We have endless options in almost every aspect of our lives and the health and fitness space is no exception. There is always another workout to try or another person telling us what we should be doing.

But having more options does not always make it easier to get started.

Through conversations with clients at True Line Fitness, I have come to recognize an essential missing piece in the fitness industry that makes answering the simple question “Where do I begin?” more complicated than it needs to be.

Most people understand the importance of movement. They want to feel stronger and more capable  in their bodies to pursue their various passions. However people need a clear place to start.

A Simple Place to Begin

Before we decide what we should add to our routine, we need to understand how we move. We cannot underestimate the power that has.

How are you breathing right now? When you sit at your desk or bend to pick something up, what do you notice?

You do not have to fix anything yet. Start by paying attention.

This is where Foundation Training, the work we teach at True Line Fitness comes into play. Through bodyweight exercises, we explore how our breathing and movement patterns work together to support us. We practice using that support to build strength.

What we learn in class gives us something to practice throughout the day, whether we are carrying groceries or heading into another workout. The basics become a foundation we can continue to build on.

At True Line Fitness, our Foundation Training classes in Madison, WI, and online give you a place to explore this work with guidance. You can ask questions and begin to understand what support feels like in your own body.

This week, take a moment to notice how you feel before deciding what you need to change. That is a place to begin, too.
