Friday Bone Building "BB" Express
Hop the BB Express! Foundation Training with added weights and resistance for building bone.
Service Description
While practicing traditional Foundation Training principles, in this 45-minute class we will incorporate gentle weight-bearing and resistance exercises selected specifically to enhance bone health. What you'll need: In addition to your exercise mat and Zoom access, you'll want to have a glass of water and a few items at the ready. WEIGHTS: You can get by with one set of low-weight dumbbells, but two sets will serve you better. In this class you'll want to keep the maximum weight of a single dumbbell no greater than 10 lb. examples: 2 lb dumbbell set + 5 lb dumbbell set or, 3 lb dumbbell set + 5 lb dumbbell set or, 5 lb dumbbell set + 10 lb dumbbell set* *Suzanne uses the 5-and-10-lb combination and often finds it challenging, especially given her long arms. The purpose is to have a challenging set and a more-challenging set, but be sure to start low and increase gradually. We want you to feel challenged but we don't want you to use a weight that completely throws off your form or balance. Over time you might increase the weight of your dumbbells but it isn't always necessary or wise to do so. If you're unsure about what weight works best for you, talk with your instructor. RESISTANCE BANDS: A simple set of resistance bands that are shaped like ribbons rather than closed loops will work best. You can get them at just about any store like Target, Costco, etc. You can also order them from Amazon. NO EQUIPMENT? NO PROBLEM! COME ANY WAY! If you do not have the weights or resistance bands, or you simply prefer not to use them, no worries! You can participate fully in the class by simply imagining the weights and resistance bands as you perform the moves with us. Nobody here will judge that decision harshly--in fact, we all know that sometimes after an injury or time away, the imaginary weights and resistance bands are the best option.
